Dress shirts and sport shirts
As suits and sport coats move to a dressy sophistication, shirts and neckwear take a complementary route.
The key color direction comes from the "deco" colors in the clothing fabrics. For Fall 2009 the most important of these will be lilac, garnet red and grey, paired with shades of blue or brown. The result is combinations in solids, stripes and checks that form the foundation for the furnishings.
Coppley shirts are always made from the finest Italian and Swiss fabrics. These mills have been chosen for their pattern design and coloring, and the quality of their cotton weaving and finishing.
Textured dress shirt fabrics are still prominent. The richness of a woven pattern is brought out by a chevron or steep twill ground weave. In broadcloth patterns there are more 2 ply 100’s and 2 ply 120’s qualities. In the higher qualities the clarity of the patterns means that the colors in finer stripes and checks are outstanding.
All these qualities have also been selected for the sport shirts. Very rich grounds in indigo blue, plum, and brown are the foundation tones.
There are two distinct directions in sport shirts - urban and country. Urban encompasses rich fine fabrics in jewel tones in stripes, checks and textured solids. Styling for these fabrics is clean and trim. Country fabrics have updated plaids and twill solids woven in either high count clear cut finishes or lightly brushed finishes. All from the finest Italian mills.
In addition, Coppley has introduced a new slip-over sport shirt that will be made in fine cotton knitted and lightly bushed cottons.
